The Weekend is Here!

I’m so glad it’s finally the weekend! My class acted ok the 1st couple of days back. But then they showed their true colors. I’m getting a student teacher on Monday so that should be fun. It wasn’t that long ago when I student-taught for Mrs. Liz Hood. It was such a great experience. I hope I can be a good influence for this chick. I’m going to try to be positive all the time and keep my sarcastic comments to myself. How tricky will that be?!?! :) Here’s a pic of some of my kids in their pajamas back in Dec. when it was Polar Express Day. Pretty cute, huh?

So last Wednesday night while the rest of the people in Texas were watching the Rose Bowl, my friend and I went to a Stars hockey game. Another friend had given us the seats for free because he wanted to watch the football game instead. Our seats were high up but they were in the middle so that was good. I was hoping for a few fights on the ice but that didn’t happen. I love watching the refs scramble to get out of the way. Anyway, th
e Stars won 3 to 1!!!

I’m excited about our weekend in Houston next weekend. I get to spend 4 hours on the ride there absorbing knowledge from Jessica. Maybe she can give me some blog pointers while we drive. And as for the one picture I got from the Sanks wedding, here it is. My camera was a little slow because Meg and Michael had already passed through. But aren’t Ashley and Deborah lovely? ;)

Ok, so I have a “girl” question for you….when you first start dating someone and you don’t like some of his clothing choices, how do you go about changing that? Some people suggest gradually start buying him a shirt here and there and before you know it, his whole closet looks better. Others say have a talk with him about it. What are your thoughts? :) I can’t wait to hear them!

i would advise against "having a talk" with him about it. the male ego is a fragile thing and telling him up front that you don't like anything he wears is probably not the best idea. i would say compliment him everytime he wears something you do like. and when the opportunity arises, buying him stuff he'd look hot in is a good idea as well. but i'm not a guy so maybe if a guy commented on this, it would be more informative. what are you going to houston for next weekend???

Some very good advice, Stacy! Thanks! So when it comes to buying a shirt, do you ask his size in advance or take a guess at it? Jessica and I (and whoever else wants to!) are going to visit all the peeps living in Houston. Anybody else want to go? Just let us know. :) I can't wait to meet little Andrew Landrum.

HELLO!! Do you know who I married? Do you remember how he dressed in college? ...duck taped belt and flannel shrits!...need I say more? I definitely bought him clothes!!! Then once you really start dating you tell him what shirts you like and don't like. When I say to Matt...are you going to wear that? ...he usually ends up changing...hehehe! Is there a guy I need to know about??????

Jessica said...

what are "shrits"? buy him good items, and also point out what you like that other guys are wearing. not in a, "ooooh, he's so hot!" kinda way, but in a "i really like his shirt" or "i'm loving the flat-front khakis" way.

Mandy--you can always change the clothes!!!!!!! I like all the comments posted! Don't worry--he will be BEGGING you to buy clothes for him before too long! Just threaten him with...I will leave again! HA! Just kidding! The "outside" stuff can change...but you can't change his heart...and that is the most important!! Cute pic of the class...funny how they can look so sweet and innocent!! :) We know the truth though, right?!

if you're buying him clothes, i would think you were close enough to have been to his house. this affords you the opportunity to sneak a peak at a shirt left on the bed or in the closet, whatever. this may be an invasion of privacy but it is for the common good after all. and it's how i've found out in the past so sue me. who is this guy? i need some details. blogging 101: info on new guys whether crushes, flings, or a-team material is a blogworthy topic.

Mandy said...

Well, I don’t kiss and blog! :) Only kidding, of course! He’s definitely a-team material though, Stacy. Give me a couple of weeks to see if it’s going anywhere, then I’ll fill you in on more. I’m not at the point where I can buy him stuff yet though. So I’ll just have to grin and bear it with the current wardrobe (which is not that bad. I was just curious for on down the road...if we don’t come to a dead-end like I usually do with guys--ha ha!). Great advice, girls, keep it coming!

Shandra said...

is it legal to put pics of your students on the net? i'm turning you in!

WE NEED DETAILS ON THIS GUY!! Doesn't matter if it's going anywhere or not....DETAILS PLEASE!!

Mandy said...

I thought about that when I was putting my kids' pic on here. I'm sure all their parents would approve. They signed a release form at the beginning of the year for our school website. What's the difference between my school website and my blog. :)

There really aren't any details to share yet. You'll like his name though. It's the same as your man's name. I'll keep you posted. Patience! :)

Shandra said...

UGH! I better get details when you get here....or else!

I was totally kidding about the kiddos! Like I care!! They are cute! We did Polar Express at my old school and few kids wore pjs b/c they couldn't afford them...isn't that sad!

Megan said...

I think you should all drive to hours & visit me in Lake Charles :) I wish I could be in Houston this weekend!

Shandra said...

Megan!!! How fun!! You totally should come!!

Mandy said...

Oh, that would be sooo fun! Pack up little Jolie and Todd and come on over! Pleeeeease! :)

Megan said...

We currently have our BCM Leadership Retreat next weekend & I'm not sure I'm up for traveling with Jolie in the car by myself these days. I might run the idea past Todd.

shandra...call me and i will give you details on mandy's man...just kidding! i had to find out from JASON...he learned some at our lunch at johnny's...what are we going to do with miss mandy??!!

Mandy said...

Well, apparently there might not be much to tell. He told me tonight that his job will be promoting him to either Missouri or Green Bay over the next couple of years. Hello?!?! I would become a hermit if I lived in a place as cold as Green Bay! I don't like the cold that much. I prefer 70 degrees. And you know, if things worked out, Larry and Wanda probably wouldn't be happy about driving that far to visit me. Would any of you come visit me that fay away? I don't blame you! :)

I really don't know how to get your man to buy new clothes. If you figure it out let me know, so I can use it on my husband. I flat out tell him " Do not wear those ugly stained shorts with holes in them out of the house or I am staying here." and that doesn't work. I just throw things away that I don't like when I do the laundry, but I wouldn't suggest this with someone you are dating.

The only prob with Luis' wardrobe is that it somehow in some way, shape or form, revolves around OU! It's not necessarily t-shirts either. It could be a simple polo shirt but, by golly, it's going to be crimson red! BOYS!

I am right there with you, Kim! Everything is A&M with Jason!!!!

Shandra said...

carrie...are you coming or what? we need to know!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I am not sure yet...Jason's parents were here and I haven't had a chance to talk to my brother. SOME of us have to work, so can't talk and play all day!! I won't talk to Chris until tonight! Calm down little one...the party will still go on without me! Just get a spatula or spoon, flashlight, Mariah Carey CD and Mandy can take it from there....

Shandra said...

looks like the kid in the white shirt can't hold up his head...either that or he's hungry. i can relate in either case. mandy, i don't know about all this hostility on your blog. sorry about deleting the last post, we all know that this is code for a person using excessive profanity in a post...or does it?
-Justin

Mandy said...

You're right. There does seem to be a lot of hostility on my blog comments. Carrie needs to get her own blog to share news like getting a new car. Don't you think? So since Jessica is going to Houston this weekend, are you and Meredith going to get the keys to her house so you can watch cable? :) I'm with you on the whole antenna thing. All my channels are fuzzy too. But I could afford one thing...either DSL for my computer or cable. So I chose DSL.

Megan said...

Have fun in Houston. I'm going to be helping Todd develop BCM leaders. Jolie is going to Gran's house in Alexandria. I wish I could see you girls!

Michelle said...

mandy is the all-time winner on number of comments posted to a blog. :) i enjoy reading them, so people, comment away!

Mandy said...

Megan, we will miss you! Michelle, can you meet us for dinner Sat. night or something? I like having so many comments. Even if it b/c Carrie and Shandra just write back and forth to each other. :) At least I'm a winner at something! ha ha

Shandra said...
